Well I am something of a technophobe and don't use any social network sites or anything like that so I'm still asking myself what am I doing as I type this!

The thing is I absolutely love to read and sometimes feel like I am the only one on the planet that can buy books like no tomorrow like I do! I decided that I need to get through the books that are sitting on my shelf and I'd like to join my first ever reading challenge! I figured that by setting up this blog it might encourage me to do that and I would like to try my hand at reviewing some of the books I read (please note I am not a professional reviewer, I have never done this before so don't expect anything spectacular!) I also think this a good way of keeping track of the number of books that I read in year which I haven't done before and help me to remember them (because my memory is not always the best).

For the reading challenge I've chosen Beth Fish Reads 'What's in a name?': http://www.bethfishreads.com/2012/11/whats-in-name-6-sign-up.html which sounds like a lot of fun and I think it is doable for me without putting too much pressure on. It will also encourage me to get through a few of the books on my shelf.

These are the books I have chosen for the categories so far:

  1. A book with up or down (or equivalent) in the title: Falling Sideways by Tom Holt (I'm not sure if I can count this but I figured Falling could be counted as a reference to down? Let me know if you think I should change this.)
  2. A book with something you'd find in your kitchen in the title: Life of Pi by Yann Martel
  3. A book with a party or celebration in the title: A Feast for Crows by George R R Martin
  4. A book with fire (or equivalent) in the title: I haven't found a book for this category yet
  5. A book with an emotion in the title: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
  6. A book with lost or found (or equivalent) in the title:  A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
So far this year I have read three books: The Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling, Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch and Inquisition by Alfredo Colitto and I am hoping to make my debut review about one of these in the near future.

Wish me luck!
